Lately I haven't been writing much.
Actually... that's a lie. I haven't been writing at all. Unless blog posts count, and let's be honest—they're not quite the same.
The weird part? I have ideas. Lots of them. New plots. New characters. Scenes that play in my head while I'm trying to fall asleep, driving, or doing literally anything except sitting at my computer.
People love to call it Writer's Block, but I think that's one of the biggest misconceptions in writing. The ideas usually aren't the problem. If you look into what "writer's block" really is, you'll find it's often stress, burnout, perfectionism, fear of not getting it right, or just plain life getting in the way. The creativity is still there. It's the connection between your brain and your fingertips that decides to take an extended vacation.
That's where I've been.
I want to write. I miss writing. I have stories begging to be told. But every time I open my laptop, my brain suddenly decides staring at the cursor is today's main event.
The good news is I know this feeling doesn't last forever. Stories are patient. They wait. And eventually one of them gets tired of waiting and practically drags me back to the keyboard.
Here's hoping that's sooner rather than later... because I have a few characters who are probably getting pretty annoyed with me.
